Running battles between cops and students continued outside Parliament after Finance Minister Nene delivered his speech.

Johannesburg - Running battles between police and protesting university students continued outside Parliament after Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene delivered his mid-term budget speech.

Police fired teargas and stun grenades as students ran away and returned to the Parliament precinct.

Some students were tackled by police in full riot gear and forcibly taken away.

Police managed to move the students of the precinct and locked the gates.

Some students threw missiles at the police.

The students were chanting “We want Blade”, in apparent reference to the higher education minister Blade Ndzimande, who capped fees hikes at six percent on Tuesday.

All the while President Jacob Zuma, cabinet ministers and MPS remained holed up inside the House.
