Johannesburg - A 20-year-old model told the High Court sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday that she paid Johannesburg model agency boss Dawie de Villiers for a calendar she never received.

The model told the court that she paid De Villiers between R3000 and R4000 for the calendars, but she never got them and he didn’t giver her money back.

De Villiers, the founder of Modelling South Africa, is accused of 38 counts of rape, sexual assault, indecent assault, sexual grooming, possession and accessing of child pornography as well as fraud and theft. The charges date back to 2010.

The model told the court that De Villiers had instead given her calendars that she didn’t feature in and when he was meant to give her back her money he said he was busy. She testified that he had still not paid her back.

Earlier, the woman told the court how she had come to know De Villiers.

“I met Dawie through a friend who was doing modeling at his company,” she said.

The woman told the court that she used to talk to De Villiers via BBM after he got her number on Facebook and requested her to meet him for a test shoot.

State Prosecutor Advocate Arveena Persad asked the woman to tell the court what happened between herself and De Villiers when she went to his house.

“We went to a room, where we did a photo shoot,” she said.

“Then we went home and at night he BBMed me and said he didn’t want my friend as a model because she was too fat.”

The woman said she had more modelling shoots with De Villiers.

She also testified about an incident when the model agency boss allegedly touched her.

“We were at Dawie’s place, my mom had dropped me, and it was only me, Dawie and his domestic help,” she said.

She and De Villiers went to his room after she asked him where she could leave her shoes.

“I had a short mini dress on. Dawie and I were in his room and he was sitting on his bed and I was sitting in front of him,” she said.

“He then lifted up my dress and put his hand underneath my dress.”

She then demonstrated to the court how De Villiers had put his hand under her dress.

“He pulled me onto the bed and we were lying next to each other,” she testified.

“He held me and his domestic helper came in and told him that the other model had just arrived,” she said.

The woman, who was 16 years old at the time, told the court that the incident occurred in 2011 at De Villiers’s house in Kempton Park.

She said when they were at a glass door and he “held me tight around my waist and kissed me on the lips,” she said.

“I said ‘No Dawie, I have to go” and he said ‘Just a kiss’,”

“It happened so fast and I tried to push him away,” she told the court.

She told the court that later, along with other models, they went with De Villiers to action cricket.

So far several women and a 10-year-old boy have testified against De Villiers.

The trial continues.
