Ajax defender Lolo dies in crash

Ajax defender Cecil Lolo has died in a car crash in Cape Town in the early hours of Sunday.

Johannesburg – Ajax Cape Town defender Cecil Lolo was killed in a car crash in Cape Town in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to reports the 27-year-old was driving a VW Golf GTI at the time of the accident.

Ajax Cape Town confirmed the death of Lolo on their Facebook page.

“It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing of our brave warrior Cecil Lolo this morning,” the club said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Lolo. Ajax Cape Town will release an official statement in due course.”

A number of players took to social media on Sunday to pay tribute to Lolo. Among those paying tribute were Pirates player Kermit Erasmus, and the Chiefs duo of Willard Katsande and George Lebese.
