Gauteng woman drowns near Margate

A 38-year old woman from Vanderbijl Park in Gauteng drowned at Manaba Beach on KwaZulu-Natal’s south coast.

Durban – A 38-year old woman from Vanderbijl Park in Gauteng drowned on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast on Wednesday.

Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said that life guards at Manaba Beach near Margate pulled the woman from the water.

“Reports from the scene are that the lifeguards pulled the female from the water and found her to be unresponsive,” said Botha.

Advanced life support paramedics arrived at the beach, but despite their best efforts they were unable to resuscitate her and she was declared dead at the scene.
