"The ideas of the institutions and the public about justice do not coincide”

“Judiciary is an institution, and justice is a sense. In other words, judiciary is primarily about laws, the bodies that enforce those laws and ensure equality before the law. Our judiciary institutions have not yet instilled a sense of justice in the citizens of Armenia. This is a very interesting phenomenon,” Nikol Pashinyan stated at the event dedicated to the 28th anniversary of the establishment of the Constitutional Court.

According to him, this is “a serious problem that we have to face.”

“What should happen so that the views of state institutions and the public on judiciary coincide? I believe that the platform where that conversation takes place is the debate over the Constitution and, ultimately, the making of the decision at the Constitutional Referendum as a result of that debate.”
