Rector of Haybusak University extorted bribes on the pretext of enrolling in the university

Haybusak University Rector demanded and received bribes from a number of individuals under the pretext of enrolling them in the university#39;s Ijevan branch to the amount of AMD 15 million between 2013 and 2017, the Prosecutor General#39;s Office reported.

YEREVAN, 11 June. /ARKA/. Haybusak University Rector demanded and received bribes from a number of individuals under the pretext of enrolling them in the university's Ijevan branch to the amount of AMD 15 million between 2013 and 2017, the Prosecutor General's Office reported. br

It said the damage was compensated. On 6 May 2024, a prosecutor opened a criminal case against the university rector and a number of employees. The preliminary investigation is ongoing. br

On 10 June 2024, Yerevan Prosecutor Rafael Manukyan sent an appeal to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport asking to discuss the invalidation of the fake diplomas mentioned in the appeal, the legality of Haybusak University's licensing and the possible removal of the current rector. br
