Armenia to spend over $170,000 on reconstruction of Holy Trinity Church in border-straddling Kirants

The church was used as a warehouse in the Soviet Union and is in poor shape

YEREVAN, June 14. /ARKA/. The Armenian government will spend a total of 66,127,000 AMD on reconstructing the Holy Trinity Church in the border-straddling village of Kirants in the Tavush region, the country’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports reported on Friday.

“The Holy Trinity Church, built in the 19th century, is a significant architectural landmark,” the Ministry said in a statement.

The church was used as a warehouse in the Soviet Union. Its roof is completely destroyed and there are cracks on its walls. Additionally, the surrounding area also needs renovation.
