Armenian government approves procedure for assisting refugees in acquiring or constructing housing

YEREVAN, 14 June. /ARKA/. The Armenian government today approved the procedure of providing assistance to refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh in purchasing a flat or building a house./pp

According to Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs David Khachatryan, applications for assistance are accepted online. Electronic certificates will be generated after data verification. The refugees will be able to receive them in any bank, presenting the QR code sent to the post office indicated by them./pp

The assistance consists of several components, namely the purchase of a flat or a private house./pp

The beneficiaries of the programme are those refugees who have already received Armenian citizenship. The cost of housing cannot exceed 55 million drams. At the same time, up to 3 million drams from the allocated funds can be used to purchase a land plot for the construction of a house on it./pp

The financing of the programme will be carried out through banks, the government will undertake the obligation to pay the amounts and interest./pp

If there are funds left after the implementation of the programme, they can be used to purchase agricultural land (up to 5 million drams), repair houses (up to 4 million drams), buy furniture and household appliances (up to 2 million drams)./pp

At the same time, the programme does not apply to refugees if at least one member of the family owns a dwelling. Besides, when building a residential house, citizens will have to choose from pre-prepared standard projects./pp

At the first stage, families with three or more minor children (in case of building a house - with two or more) and families with a mortgage loan) will become beneficiaries./pp/pp

In the second phase, which will begin no later than 1 January 2026, beneficiaries will be families with two or more minor children (one or more in the case of house construction).
