YEREVAN, 28 June. /ARKA/. The United States has donated $13 million worth of X-ray and radiation control equipment to the Armenian State Revenue Committee.

The ceremony of installation of the equipment at the Apaven customs terminal was attended by Rustam Badasyan, head of the State Revenue Committee, and Kristina Kvien , US Ambassador to Armenia.

The new equipment was purchased with funding and assistance from the US State Department's Export Control and Border Security and the US Department of Energy's Nuclear Smuggling Prevention and Detection programmes.nbsp;nbsp;

The acquisition of X-ray and radiation detection equipment is an important step in our overall mission to prevent illicit trafficking of nuclear and radioactive materials. The integration of the new equipment into our infrastructure will greatly enhance our ability to detect nuclear and radioactive materials that threaten public safety and international stability, Badasyan said.
