YEREVAN, August 6. /ARKA/. The Armenian State Revenue Committee (SRC) thwarted an attempt to smuggle 3 kilograms of cocaine into the country, the authority reported on Tuesday.

The SRC officers recently conducted a customs inspection of a Dominican Republic citizen who arrived in Armenia via a transit flight. Both his suitcase and hand luggage were thoroughly checked.

During the inspection, 3 packages containing a total of 3 kilograms of cocaine were discovered in his suitcase. Following a court decision, the individual was arrested as part of a criminal investigation.

Operational intelligence revealed that Armenia was intended to be his transit point, with Turkey as the final destination for the cocaine. Authorities are taking measures to identify accomplices involved in the smuggling operation.
