New taxi regulations in Armenia to take effect on September 1

YEREVAN, August 20. /ARKA/. Starting September 1, 2024, new regulations for passenger transport services via taxis will be implemented in Armenia, according to the State Revenue Committee. These changes were discussed in a recent meeting held by the Committee./pp

Under the new legislation, a state duty of 2% will be applied to the total cost of each ride if paid in cash, beginning September 1, 2024. This rate will increase to 3.5% on January 1, 2025, and to 5% on January 1, 2026./pp

For cashless payments, the duty rate will be set at 1.5% of the trip's cost starting from September 1, 2024, rising to 2.5% on January 1, 2025, and to 4% on January 1, 2026./pp

Additionally, from September 1, taxi drivers will be required to issue an electronic receipt for every ride, except when the trip is arranged through an electronic platform./pp

Organizations, private entrepreneurs, and individuals must submit declarations regarding the provision of irregular passenger transport services via taxis, as well as the state duties paid, exclusively through electronic means by the 10th of each subsequent month./pp

It was previously reported that taxi operators must also obtain a license to provide passenger transport services. Taxi drivers who fail to obtain the required license and do not pay the state duty will face a fine of 500,000 drams./pp

Another penalty introduced under the new rules is a 200,000 dram fine for each instance of operating without issuing an electronic receipt or violating its usage regulations./pp br/p
