B.C. minister, representative disagree on ‘aging out’ fixes

A number of young people with connections to foster care have died recently, all close to or soon after reaching their 19th birthdays. Despite those deaths, B.C.’s children’s minister insists the province offers supports similar to those in other provinces and says those supports are being expanded. “While there ... have been some very tragic stories, we can’t translate that to meaning that the services and supports aren’t there,” Stephanie Cadieux said. “We’ve got services and supports and we’re expanding them and improving upon them.”
