Biden, Kerry call on Russia to release Savchenko

U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on March 8 called for the release of Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko, imprisoned for nearly two years in Russia on bogus charges of killing to Russian journalists.

Savchchenko went on a hunger strike on March 4, ahead of scheduled closing arguments on March 9. She faces 23 years in prison if convicted.
