Johannesburg – Johannesburg model agency boss Dawie De Villiers has insisted that no rape took place and everything that was said in court about him was being fabricated.

De Villiers, who is facing a range of charges including rape, sexual assault, sexual grooming, intimidation, fraud and possession of child pornography, was testifying in the South Gauteng High Court sitting at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

On Tuesday, during the cross examination, state prosecutor Arveena Persad asked De Villiers whether the rape of a young girl had occurred in 2010.

“Are you saying that the rape allegations were all a fabrication?” she asked.

“Yes,” De Villiers replied.

He added that the alleged rape victim was crying while she was testifying because she knew she was lying and was making up the whole story.

“She sat in this court blatantly lying,” De Villiers told the court on Tuesday.

Persad asked De Villiers why the woman, who was 16 years old when she was allegedly raped by him, would take four days off work to come and lie to the court.

“Ask her,” De Villiers replied.

Defence Advocate Jacques Pienaar then stood up and told the court that the woman had admitted to lying about being a virgin and that was enough for him to prove that she was lying.

Persad then went on to read BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) messages where the woman said that he would pay for raping her, as well as one that mentioned her and De Villiers having a sexual relationship.

DeVilliers countered that the message was sent to someone who was pretending to be him on BBM.

Persad asked De Villiers whether the woman’s intention was to come and lie about the rape in court.

“She had to have a cover up, hence she said we had a sexual relationship,” he said.

Later Persad put it to De Villiers that he was lying to the court and went on to read a few lines from the evidence of the alleged rape victim which stated that she was disgusted at herself for what had happened.

“Tears don’t make a person honest,” De Villiers said.

The matter continues.
