Johannesburg - Talks to end a month-old wildcat strike at Pikitup in Johannesburg resumed at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) on Friday morning.

Thousands of members of the SA Municipal Workers Union downed tools over the implementation of a wage deal that they say was meant to be honoured in December. They also want Pikitup MD Amanda Nair to be shown the door over corruption allegations, which she has been cleared of following an internal probe.

Discussions to resolve the industrial action started on Tuesday.

They progressed until early Wednesday when parties agreed to reconvene.

“The CCMA is committed to this process and remains positive with all parties recognising the importance of finding a mediated solution,” said CCMA director Cameron Morajane.
