Sargsyan and Bordyuzha discussed escalation of tension in Karabakh

Armenia's president Serzh Sargsyan, who is also the rotating chairman of the Collective Security Treaty Organization's (CSTO) Council, received today CSTO secretary general Nikolay Bordyuzha, Sargsyan's press office reports.

YEREVAN, April 15. /ARKA/. Armenia's president Serzh Sargsyan, who is also the rotating chairman of the Collective Security Treaty Organization's (CSTO) Council, received today CSTO secretary general Nikolay Bordyuzha, Sargsyan's press office reports.

It said the meeting was attended also by the chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, as well as the heads of delegations of general staff of CSTO member countries Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, who are in Armenia to participate in the eighth meeting of the CSTO Military Committee.

Participants of the meeting spoke about the issues included in the agenda of the meeting of the Military Committee emphasizing their importance in strengthening of the military component of the CSTO. The sides also spoke about the security and stability in the Caucasus region, in particular, the situation created as a result of military action unleashed by Azerbaijan on the contact line of the Karabakh-Azerbaijani forces.

After the meeting, Sargsyan and Bordyuzha had a face to face conversation, during which the CSTO secretary general briefed the president of Armenia about the CSTO current activity. They also spoke about Armenia's chairmanship in the CSTO. -0-
