On the long, sometimes bumpy, road trip from the coast to Kuelap and the mummies at Leymebamba, a roadside hotel is very welcome indeed. Cosy and welcoming – and quite magical in its way – El Chillo is the established pitstop, serving hearty food in a rustic but comfortable setting.
