Residual Energy Detected During Paranormal Investigation at 101-yr-old Armory

MOUNT JULIET – The Mount Juliet Armory building is more than just a place to see town officials with offices or go to vote on occasion. At one time it served as a National Guard headquarters for many years and is the most recent subject of an investigation by the Quabbin Valley Paranormal group (QVP). The QVP group recently conducted a late night paranormal investigation of the Armory. They placed audio and video recorders at multiple locations around the building to help detect for any paranormal presence in the 101-year-old building.

The results of that investigation were conveniently revealed on the anniversary date for the building. Before the reveal began, a brief history of the building was given by former National Guardsman Lt. Roland Woodbury who served at the Armory building and in Korea for years.

The actual reveal featured 15 audio clips recorded the night of the investigation. According to Gerry Powling, Quabbin Valley Paranormal President, “There is nothing here to be afraid of.” Powling said that the energy they did detect was mostly residual energy, meaning that it is not an actual person’s spirit, but instead, a recording of what may have happened in the past. The recordings featured such phrases as “hi,” “come in,” “closer than you think,”  “balcony belfry,” and “you’re fired.”

Woodbury recalled a story from one night when he was in an office in the basement and thought he heard footsteps on the main level. When he went upstairs to investigate he said he heard no one there and confirmed he was the only person in the building. One audio clip revealed evidence of an intellectual haunting. This is defined as an energy that has an intellectual presence enough to interact with investigators. The QVP investigators will typically ask questions during their investigations hoping to find evidence of an intellectual haunt. One of their questions was replied to with a tapping sound that they could hear at that time. The residual energy sounds were only heard when listening to the recorders after that night.
