School readiness can start with a diaper change

By age three, babies from families on public assistance have been introduced to 30 million fewer words than children from more well-to-do families. Follow-up research showed that children from the lowest income backgrounds continued to lag far behind in language skills by third grade.

The National Diaper Bank Network is thrilled to be teaming up with the Clinton Global Initiative's Too Small To Fail to provide kids with the early language exposure that will get them ready to succeed in school. Our Talk Read Sing for Change program will deliver Penguin Little Golden Books and tips on doing fun language activities to parents through the diaper banks that already serve these families. We'll also be distributing millions of diapers to these same families though the program, thanks to the generosity of Huggies.
