Armenian telecom operators pay 14 billion drams in taxes for first half

YEREVAN, August 1. /ARKA/. Armenia’s three telecommunications operators- ArmenTel (trading as Beeline), VivaCell-MTS and Ucom paid a total of 14 billion drams in various taxes for the first six months of 2016, by 0.5 billion drams less from the year before,  according to the State Revenue Committee.

According to official data, some 11.9 billion drams of that were collected by tax authorities and about 2 billion drams by customs authorities.

It 2015 September the local telecom provider Ucom acquired the 100% stake in Orange Armenia, a subsidiary of France Telecom, which operated in the Armenian market since November, 2009. 

ArmenTel paid a total of 5.9 billion drams in various taxes for January-June 2016 coming 7th in the list of the 1000  largest corporate taxpayers.  VivaCell-MTS paid 4.7 billion drams (13th place) and Ucom paid over 3.8 billion drams.

Overall the 1000 largest corporate taxpayers paid more than 346.7 billion drams in various taxes, an increase of 6.6% over the same period of the first half of 2015. 

The list was topped by Gazprom Armenia natural gas distribution company, which paid more than 24.5 billion drams against about 24.6 billion drams it had paid for the first half of 2015 (a decline by 0.2%). ArmenTel is entirely owned by VimpelCom.  It provides fixed and mobile telephony services, high-speed Internet and IPTV. 

Ucom provides a full range of services in the field of high-speed symmetric internet, IP-TV, digital telephony. Ucom, with the assistance of Ericsson has built the largest fiber-optic network of new generation in Armenia.

VivaCell-MTS (K-Telecom CJSC) is owned by Russian MTS (80%) and Lebanese Fattouch Group (20%). ($ 1 - 476.13 drams). --0-
