Armenia-U.S. cooperation in defense field is discussed

During the meeting Seyran Ohanyan highly appreciated the level of defense cooperation with the United States and Armenia and noted that it is mostly focused on specific projects that support the development of interoperable capabilities of Armenian Armed Forces.

The parties discussed the main projects carried out in the framework of the Armenian- American defense cooperation, the development of a peacekeeping mission, Armenia's new commitments in this field, professional sergeant personnel formation, strategic defense review and other issues.

The sides also discussed regional security and the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict. Armenian Defense Minister praised the role of co-chair countries of the OSCE Minsk Group in Karabakh conflict settlement and noted that Armenian side attaches great importance to the implementation of the agreements reached in Vienna and St. Petersburg: increase monitoring and implementation of investigation mechanisms will have a preventive role and will define the scope of responsibility.
