Cape Town - Shots were fired during a cash-in-transit heist at Sanlam Centre in Parow on Saturday.

“Fidelity guards were apparently approached by five armed males and shots were fired,” said Hawks spokesman Captain Lloyd Ramovha.

One guard’s head was grazed by a bullet. However, no serious injuries were reported.

Ramovha said a loaded firearm belonging to one of the guards and an undisclosed amount of cash were taken.

He said the men fled in a white Mercedes-Benz.

In a similar cash-in-transit heist in Mitchells Plain in December, a R50 000 reward was offered for information.

In that robbery, an SBV Services vehicle carrying an unknown amount of cash was held up at the BP garage at Promenade Mall when staff went to refill an ATM.

The driver was held up at gunpoint and forced to drive the vehicle to an abandoned house in Khayelitsha.
