The procedure for issuing U.S visas to Armenian citizens change after Trump’s executive order
YEREVAN, February 1. /ARKA/. The US Embassy in Armenia said today it has changed the procedure for issuing visas, Novosti-Armenia reported citing a statement made by the US Embassy in Armenia. The changes took effect in connection with the executive order of the USA president Donald Trump, toughening the United States’ immigration policy.
Now, when applying for a visa for the second time applicants will need to be interviewed if more than 12 months passed since the time of expiry of their previous permits.
The US embassy said these changes apply to citizens of all countries; however, they apply only to those applicants who want to update their visas without being interviewed. The US presidential executive order states that those applicants, who have a valid visa for entry or its validity ended no earlier than 12 months ago, can update their visas without being interviewed at the discretion of the employees of the consular department.
Persons applying for diplomatic and official visas, as well as persons under the age of 14 and over 79 years of age are exempted from interviews.
The embassy said if more than 12 months passed since the time of expiry of the previous permit to enter the US applicant must appear in person for the interview and to confirm compliance with the visa obtaining requirements. -0--
