Vorkuta City Hall official fired for drug use rehired for another position

The Vorkuta City Hall terminated its contract with Alexander Litvinov, the head of the Administrative Office, who had been fined 4,000 rubles for drug use in July. Viktor Vorobyov, a deputy of the Komi State Council who had previously urged the Prosecutor’s Office for Litvinov’s dismissal from, shared the official response with "7x7."

The City Hall’s statement revealed that the Commission on Compliance with Official Conduct Requirements had recommended disciplinary action for Litvinov. However, the response did not specify the reasons for the contract termination or detail Litvinov’s current role. Vorobyov reported that Litvinov was rehired as a consultant and is now part of the staff of the Administration’s Economic Department.

Alexander Litvinov oversees pro-government media and social media channels in Vorkuta. He had held his previous position for eight years. "7x7" previously covered how Litvinov had created a new public image for a Russian mayor on social media.

Over the past year, the Vorkuta administration has faced three drug-related scandals. A police report was filed against Deputy Mayor Yuri Slonis, and Kirill Arabov, the head of the Urban Economy Department, was detained on suspicion of illegal drug trafficking.
