Armenia`s Honorary Consulate opened in Bari, Italy
ArmInfo. The official opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Armenia (with jurisdiction at the entire Apulia region) took place in the Italian city of Bari.
As ArmInfo was informed by the Armenian Embassy in Italy, the consulate building is located at Corso Vittorio Emanuele 30 in the center of Bari, next to the main buildings of the political and cultural institutions of the region.
The opening ceremony began with the anthems of Armenia and Italy performed by the tenor of the Petruzzelli Theater Raffaele Pastore, as well as a prayer and blessing by Don Mario Persano. Welcoming speeches were given by the Ambassador of Armenia to Italy Tsovinar Hambardzumyan, the Prefect of Bari Francesco Russo, the Mayor of Bari, Vito Leccese and others.
In her speech, the Ambassador recalled that the family of the Honorary Consul comes from the village of Nor Araks and arrived in Bari after the Armenian Genocide, becoming part of the public and business system of Apulia. Both the Armenian diplomat and the Italian officials expressed their conviction in their speeches that the Honorary Consulate of Armenia in Bari will become a place for initiatives aimed at protecting the citizens of the Republic of Armenia in Apulia. It will also promote initiatives aimed at enhancing scientific, cultural, educational, economic and commercial cooperation between Armenia and the Apulia region.
