Armenian NGOs presented evidence of Azerbaijan`s crimes at OSCE conference
ArmInfo. On October 7, during the annual OSCE Human Dimension Conference in Warsaw, the Democracy Development Foundation (FDD), the Freedom House and the International Partnership for Human Rights (IPHR) presented evidence of crimes committed by Azerbaijan against the civilian population of Artsakh.
As reported by the press service of the Democracy Development Foundation, the results of the fact-finding mission conducted by FDD, Freedom House, IPHR, the Vanadzor Office of the Helsinki Citizens' Assembly, the Law Development and Protection Foundation, "Protection of Rights Without Borders" NGO and Truth Hounds were presented to the international community. The mission documented the situation of the ethnic Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh from the 44-day war of 2020 until their deportation in September 2023.
"The report "Why There Are No Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh", prepared as a result of the mission, documents that Azerbaijan, through deliberate and calculated actions, deported and ethnically cleansed the Armenian population of Artsakh. Over 300 witnesses were interviewed and an analysis of open source data supported the conclusion that Azerbaijan's actions constitute crimes that meet the definition of forced population displacement, as well as the criteria for ethnic cleansing as defined by the UN experts during the conflict in the former Yugoslavia," the Foundation said in a statement.
During the conference, representatives of Armenian and international human rights organizations described in detail the violations of Armenians rights in Nagorno-Karabakh. They also highlighted Azerbaijan's policies and actions aimed at destroying traces of the Armenian presence and cultural heritage in the territory of Artsakh. The foundation also mentioned that they had previously presented the results of the report "Why There Are No Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh" to US government agencies and UN human rights bodies.
