A Freudian slip?: Arayik Harutyunyan refers to new Minister of  Justice as a member of the ruling political team

ArmInfo.Arayik Harutyunyan, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister, on October 30, in a conversation with reporters in the Armenian parliament, initially referred to the candidate for the Minister of Justice position Srbuhi Galyan, as a member of the ruling team, and later clarified that he had been misunderstood.

Thus, when questioned by journalists about whether the appointment of  the non-partisan Galyan as the new Minister of Justice signifies a  lack of personnel within the ruling Civil Contract party, Harutyunyan  assured that her appointment is based solely on her professional  skills, despite her affiliation with the party. "There are specific  criteria at each stage of the elections. We decided on  Srbuhi  Galyan's candidacy, given her extensive experience in high positions  and her alignment with our political team. That is why we chose her,"  Harutyunyan said.

When a journalist asked whether there was a conflict of interest in  the fact that a member of the political team had previously held the  position of Deputy Prosecutor General of Armenia, Harutyunyan tried  to downplay the situation and assured that he had been  misinterpreted.  He again assured that Galyan's nomination for this  post was solely based on her professional qualities.

When asked what significant work Galyan had done in his opinion,   Harutyunyan pointed to the creation of an institution for  confiscating illegally acquired property. " In other countries, the  creation of such an institution took four years and was carried out  over a longer period. Thanks to her efforts, we were able to  establish this institution in a relatively short time frame and this  is truly a success," Harutyunyan explained.
