Aliyev continues pressuring Armenia in negotiations

ArmInfo. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev continues to exert pressure on Armenia in the negotiation process aimed at normalizing Armenian-Azerbaijani relations amidst the international community's lack of action on the matter.

At a meeting with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo on the sidelines of the OOO Climate Summit in Baku, Aliyev stated that significant progress had been made as a result of active negotiations over the past year, particularly in border delimitation. However, he failed to mention that this progress was mainly due to concessions made by the Armenian side.

Then, following the principle of "appetite comes with eating", Aliyev expressed another set of demands to Armenia, this time of a domestic political nature. In fact, by interfering in the internal affairs of Armenia, the Azerbaijani dictator demanded a change to the country's main law, once again trying to present it as a move towards peaceful aspirations. "The territorial claims against Azerbaijan outlined in the Constitution of Armenia are still hindering to the signing of a peace treaty, and this Constitution needs to be amended," he said. Aliev doesn't see the detention of hundreds of Armenians in Azerbaijani captivity, including the military-political leadership of Artsakh, as an obstacle to the peace process. During a meeting with the President of Finland Alexander Stubb, the Azerbaijani leader mentioned that Armenia has also been invited to participate in COP29. However, it is up to Armenia to decide whether or not they will participate.
