Moscow official: Support for Russian-language media remains one of   Moscow`s top priorities

ArmInfo. Support for Russian-language media will continue to be one of Moscow's top priorities. This was stated Sergey Cheremin, the Moscow Government Minister and Head of the Department of Foreign Economic International Relations, on November 11 at the Media Forum of Russian Compatriots in Yerevan. It was dedicated to discussing the role of Russian-language media in the international information space.

"We are continuing to develop Russian-language media outside of the country by implementing new projects and actively working to create a platform for discussing professional problems and tasks within the Russian-language media community," he explained.  In this regard, the minister mentioned that in early October, media workshops were held for 55 compatriots at the Moscow House in Sukhumi. "Today's forum is already the fifth in a row. I am convinced that its results will contribute to the expansion of the exchange of creative and professional developments among media compatriots," Cheremin added. He also emphasized that over the past years, such meetings have helped to establish connections between Russian-language media in various countries. Today's media forum has become not only a successful educational discussion platform, but also an effective tool for digital communication. 

"Media meetings are an important element in preserving and popularizing the Russian language both in the near and far abroad, they strengthen contacts with compatriots and provide objective coverage of events  in Russia and around the world. Today's forum is being held at the Moscow House in Yerevan, one of the most effective foreign platforms for promoting active dialogue with our foreign diaspora and  resolving pressing issues in many areas of interaction with Russian-speaking communities. Systematic support for the development of Russian-language media is one of the main areas of work for the Moscow government. For many years, Moscow has provided financial assistance to the media and promoted the release of printed publications, radio and television programs," the minister said. He added that this year the forum has already gathered representatives of the media and compatriots' organizations twice - in Dubai and Istanbul.

In turn, Vladimir Grinko, the Head of the Department for Work with Compatriots and Information Policy, noted that the House of Moscow in Yerevan is a product of collaborative efforts between Moscow and Yerevan. According to him, this partnership is vibrant and has already reached a level of interaction that includes events like holding Moscow Days in Yerevan and Yerevan Days in Moscow.  "We have a robust regulatory framework, along with several industry agreements, that demonstrate our ongoing cooperation. I am pleased to note that this event is being held , at the  House of Moscow," Vladimir Grinko concluded.

Note that from November 10 to 14, the House of Moscow in Yerevan will host the Media Forum of Russian Compatriots, organized by the Government of Moscow, the Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations of Moscow and the Moscow House of Compatriots.  The event is attended by more than 50 representatives of Russian-language media, organizations of compatriots from 14 neighboring countries and Europe, as well as leading Russian experts. The forum will feature the work of leading Moscow editorial offices. Journalists will take part in discussions, lectures and master classes, where they will discuss current professional issues and tasks, and share experiences.
