Harris, Biden campaign together for first time since president dropped out

Israeli-American hostage killed in Gaza laid to rest

A funeral was held for Hersh Goldberg-Polin, an Israeli-American who was found dead in Gaza after being taken hostage by Hamas on Oct. 7. His and five other hostages' deaths have sparked a series of protests in Israel, with demonstrators demanding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agree to a cease-fire deal to free the remaining hostages. Brazil's supreme court upholds ban on social media platform X

Brazil's supreme court has upheld a ban on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. The vote backs a decision by one of the judge's made on Friday. The ban went into effect on Saturday and will stay in place until the company agrees to an order requiring X to name a legal representative in Brazil.

Pope Francis is headed to Asia for what is one of the longest foreign trips any head of the Catholic Church has ever embarked on. The pontiff will engage in interfaith dialogues with other religious leaders as Catholicism's popularity rises on the continent. CBS News producer Anna Matranga has more from Rome.

Biden rebukes Hamas for hostage deaths, calls on Netanyahu to do more

President Biden told reporters Monday he did not think Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was doing enough to reach a final deal to release hostages in exchange for a cease-fire in Gaza. But he placed the blame of the death of six hostages squarely on Hamas, saying their "leaders will pay for these crimes." Mark Cancian, senior adviser for the International Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, joins to discuss.

Gun violence plagues Labor Day in Chicago and NYC

Gunfire rang out in two major U.S. cities on Monday. In a Chicago suburb, four people were killed on a train. Police say the shooter did not appear to know the victims and the attack was random.
