To the delight of Exeter City fans, Demetri Mitchell has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at Exeter City until the end of the 2024/25 League One season.

The Journey So Far

• January Arrival: Mitchell joined Exeter City in January 2023, making an immediate impact in the red and white stripes.
• 32 Appearances: Since then, he has featured in 32 matches, showcasing his versatility and skill both as a left-back and left winger.
• Five Goals: Mitchell’s attacking prowess has been evident, with five goals across two separate seasons.

Road to Recovery

ACL Injury: Unfortunately, Mitchell suffered an ACL injury during City’s 3-2 Carabao Cup loss to Middlesbrough in October 2023.
Determined Comeback: Despite the setback, he has worked tirelessly on his recovery and is set to return to action during pre-season after an eight-month layoff.

Mitchell’s Words

It feels so good to sign that new contract,”* Mitchell said. *”To be fair, I kind of gave it away on social media—I did the club an injustice by announcing it! But it was an easy decision for me after speaking to the manager and some of the fans.

The club feels really close to me, and I feel like I’ve been here longer than I have. The manager understood my injury and coming back. Give me six weeks, and I’ll hit the ground running. The club truly understands me as a person.

When we get to see him play can only be predicted, but Yeovil away on Friday 19 July for even a few minutes would be pleasing for the Grecians. Demi has had three significant injuries which has stilted the footballing career of this hugely talented player. City fans will be be hoping for an injury free season which can only lead to a successful season for the Club, and numerous accolades for Demi.
