Caleb Watts Commits to Exeter City with New Deal
The 22-year-old Australian midfielder Caleb Watts has committed himself to Exeter City until January. The talented Australian has impressed fans and management alike, and this extension signals a vote of confidence in his abilities.
Caleb Watts burst onto the scene last season, by scoring on his début in a 1-0 win over Cheltenham last September. This is the second contract extension by Caleb, as he only signed a short-term deal last September and that was extended in January
Manager Gary Caldwell expressed his delight at securing Watts’ signature:-
Caleb is a special talent. His versatility and footballing intelligence make him an asset to our squad. We believe he can play a crucial role in our promotion push.
Caleb is someone who would say he had a disappointing season last year, and he was hugely unlucky with injuries. However, when he was fit and playing, Caleb showed a real tenacity and worked hard, and he is someone who we wanted to offer another contract.
Caleb on his new deal said:-
It was a no brainer for me. I have had an opportunity this summer to work on an injury that has been niggling me for a few years and has kept me out a few times already.
Hopefully we can see the fruits of that this season and I can prove that I can stay fit. If I can start this season the way I started last season I think I will give the club a real decision to make.
I can only win by playing well and staying fit.
