Epoch Science introduces new turf product line, Plant Fitness

Rick Wohlner

Epoch Science, a specialty chemical and biotech company based in Chicago, Ill., founded by former Precision Laboratories owner and president, Rick Wohlner, recently launched its Plant Fitness product line.

Plant Fitness kicks off its portfolio with a new “turf performance agency” product category. The category is comprised of biological enhancers, stress-mitigating and plant performance technologies. According to the company, these products are designed to optimize the fitness of fine turfgrass, increasing stress tolerance and playability while regenerating resources in the root zone.

Mark Jull

Mark Jull will lead the sales and marketing effort. Jull, formerly with Target Specialty Products, has experience leading sales and distribution organizations across North America and brings a customer-focused culture to the team. He is also a certified ISTRC agronomist and received his bachelor’s in horticulture science and business from the University of Guelph.

“Plant Fitness will be available through distributors who offer agronomic support and customer intimacy and provide high-quality products to the end user,” Jull said. “Limited distribution opportunities are available.”

Steve Loveday

Steve Loveday will manage product development and research for the company as vice president of technology. Loveday, who spearheaded the design and development of the Turf Fuel line for more than 13 years, brings decades of turf research expertise and has created many products sold in the professional turf market. He received a bachelor’s of science in crop and soil science from Michigan State University.

“We believe plants can be more than just healthy, they can be fit,” Loveday said. “We have developed unique technologies that exceed plant health and take plant performance to a higher level.”

Danny Wohlner

Danny Wohlner will take on the role of head of operations. Wohnler was the business operating manager for four years at Epoch Science. He has a bachelor’s of science in business operations and marketing from Leeds School of Business. He also has more than 10 years of experience in project management, consulting and board roles.

Plant Fitness has launched its first two university-tested products, Strength and CrossTrainer. Strength protects turf from stress, adds cellular resilience and optimizes energy production. CrossTrainer, a turf performance agent, builds plant fitness while regenerating the root zone.

Each product is engineered to complement existing turf programs and offers unique plant-performance attributes. Strength and CrossTrainer will be exclusively available through authorized distribution partners.
