Before taking an 0-fer on Friday, he was riding a nine-game hit streak, with five of those being multi-knock efforts. The thumb woe that Schanuel dealt with a few weeks ago is clearly a thing of the past as he started to deliver on his promise of being an on-base machine last month (.340 OBP in June) and is now piling up solid run and ribbie numbers for the season.

Boise State has come very close to making the College Football Playoffs a couple of times since this format began in 2014, but has settled for nearly annual Bowl game appearances. Unfortunately, after winning double-digit games in 2022, the Broncos took a step back last year, only going 8-6 and losing to UCLA in the LA Bowl, so they'll be looking to bounce back this season.

SWR wasn't quite as good on Wednesday, but was effective enough to bag another W and has now given up more than three earned runs just once over his last eight starts. A nice winning percentage, ERA and WHIP? What's not to like? Sure, he's flopped in a couple of starts, but has generally been a very solid option, and at the age of 23, there's plenty of upside development potential.

All told, Barkov is averaging nearly a point per game in the playoffs (8-14-22 over 23 games) coming off a regular season in which he reached 80 points for the third time in his career while playing his usual Selke Trophy level of defense.

It's clear that Milwaukee has another solid rookie hurler on its hands in Myers, who has mostly pitched out of the rotation this season. In his last outing, he managed to get 10 whiffs on 90 pitches and in the minors he was renowned for the tremendous vertical movement of his offerings. Myers is starting to look like the real deal, so scoop him up pronto, especially with news that Gasser needs Tommy John surgery.

But further progress this season may be tough to come by based on an inexperienced coach and a lack of stability at quarterback.

He will generally pound the strike zone and his arsenal is good enough to take him a long way in time. At the very least, Waldrep is a superb dynasty asset with potential to provide early dividends in the second half.

In fact, he only managed a single shot in enduring a third straight pointless game while seeing his PT dip for the fourth straight contest, surprisingly getting under 14 minutes of action on Saturday.

He's most likely the next man up, but the Reds don't need a fifth starter again for another week and a half, so it's not immediately clear how this will play out (he tossed one inning of relief on Friday). In making five starts vs. 10 relief appearances this season, Martinez has delivered top 175 value, only enduring one poor outing since the end of April. He doesn't have the most efficient delivery and hasn't been as good as he was in San Diego in some ways, yet his WHIP and command have never looked better... Читать дальше...

As alluded to above, the Yankees' rotation will soon get a massive boost with the return of ace Cole. But the fact that this staff has thrived without him is one of the top stories of the first half.
