The French firefighters attempting to put out the flames in the Notre Dame inferno used a remote controlled  firefighting robot called Colossus. He was sent into the cathedral where temperatures were too high for human firefighters to tread. The firefighters introduced Colossus at the beginning of their attempts to put out the fire. He cleared the way for firefighters by attempting to put out some flames and reduce the temperatures in the structure before the firefighters penetrated the cathedral.

Developed by Shark Robotics, Colossus is used in the zones too risky for humans, with the goal of saving the firefighter’s lives. With his 500 kg. engine, and 250 m of filled piping, he is capable of advancing at 3.5 Km per hour.
