Samuel Jackson, Vietnam Vet, Killed by a hit and run driver, buried in a Marine uniform donated by Former Marine
Samuel Jackson, former Marine was killed by a hit and run driver. An outcry ensued, including requests for support from Conshohocken VFW plea for help to bury Mr. Jackson. An urgent request was put out for a Marine uniform to allow Samuel Jackson to be buried in military attire as he And his friends wished he be.
The outpour from those who saw the Facebook of the VFW involved was impressive. Former Marine Richard Dunn, stepped forward and donated his uniform to the former Marine who had been killed so tragically.
Others donated time and money to pay for the funeral and the luncheon and to pay final respects to Mr. Samuel Jackson.
“Sammy was a former Marine in the Vietnam War who served his country with honor. His passing happened on the eve of Veteran’s Day, where we remember him with love and pride,” a fundraiser page by Peggy Jackson stated.
So proud to be a part of this VFW!! The remaining pieces for Mr. Jackson’s Marine uniform have been received. The hat and gloves were donated by a member and fellow marine from the Trappe VFW. Our Commander, Walt Hartnett has been at the Post all night doing interviews with the local news and taking phone calls.
