Fearless Kingbee Pilot Nguyen Van Tuong
It has taken me 28 hours to write this painful note:
Fearless Kingbee Pilot Nguyen Van Tuong died from a heart attack July 23rd in Orange County, CA.
On a very personal level, losing Tuong hurts deeply because he saved ST/RT Idaho on several occasions during extractions from hot LZs in Laos in ’68-’69, including Christmas Day 1968.
Tuong was the epitome of the Kingbee pilots who saved many Green Berets during the eight-year secret war conducted during the Vietnam War.
After the fall of Saigon, Tuong spent more than five years in a communist “re-education” camp until he was able to escape, come to America and reunite with his loving wife Tami. Tami called me with the sad news Thursday.
Respectfully,J. Meyer ST/RT Idaho – FOB 1/CCN
