U.S. Forces conducted strikes in Helmand to Defend ANDSF against Taliban
Over the past two days USFOR-A has conducted several targeted strikes in Helmand to defend ANDSF forces under attack by Taliban fighters, consistent with the U.S.-Taliban agreement. USFOR-A has & will continue to provide support in defense of the ANDSF under attack by the Taliban.
The Taliban had been given a warning. “The Taliban need to immediately stop their offensive actions in Helmand Province and reduce their violence around the country. It is not consistent with the US-Taliban agreement and undermines the ongoing Afghan Peace Talks.” Gen Scott Miller, Commander.
On again off again peace talks with the Taliban have consistently been shattered by violence.
In the past few days, Taliban have gathered in several villages of Baharak district of Takhar province and caused harassment to the residents of this district, Afghan MOD reported.
2 suicide attackers wanted to attack an Afghan National Army camp in Gerishk district of Helmand Province. and an ABF position in Marof district of Kandahar Province. with 2 car bombs.
The attackers were identified and terminated before they could come close to the checkpoints.
Unfortunately, 3 Afghan National Army Forces were wounded in Helmand incident and 2 border forces were wounded in Kandahar incident.
Afghan National Defense and Security Forces in its state of active defense, conducted an operation and cleared the areas from enemies presence and now the residents of Baharak district can continued their lives without any fear from Taliban.

Some progress is reported in peace talks.
125 Taliban fighters submitted their weapons and ammunition to Afghan National Defense & Security Forces and joined the peace process in Chahar Kunt district of Balkh Province 6 Oct .
These surrendered Taliban expressed their tiredness from war and violence and regret for the what they did against the civilian peoples and government.
