During a CNN town hall event in Ohio on Wednesday night, President Biden suggested that he would like to ban 9mm pistols that can carry more ammunition than Democrats feel is acceptable.

CNN Anchor Don Lemon moderated the event broadcast live to an international audience. The town hall was billed as an opportunity for the President to discuss “a wide range of issues facing the nation ranging from Covid-19 to the economy.”

When the conversation turned to gun control, President Biden bragged that he was the only politician to pass an assault weapons ban.”

“I’m the only guy that ever got — passed legislation when I was a senator to make sure we eliminated assault weapons.”

The President then said he supported a ban on certain 9mm pistols, among other weapons:

“The idea you need a weapon that can have the ability to fire 20, 30, 40, 50, 120 shots from that weapon, whether it’s a, whether it’s a 9mm pistol or whether it’s a rifle, is ridiculous.”

According to Pew Pew Tactical, 9mm pistols are the best choice for home defense for most Americans. Cost and size are important factors why:

“The 9mm is easy to find and cheap when compared to other calibers (~20 cents for a 9mm FMJ and ~40 cents for a .45 ACP round).

“Its smaller size means it has mild recoil and higher capacity magazines (usually 15+).” FOR A DEEPER DIVE VISIT LAWENFORCEMENT TODAY
