Australia’s Army Covid Crackdown

As many as 300 Australian Defence Force personnel will assist NSW Police in a major compliance crackdown across Sydney.

The police requested assistance on Thursday, three weeks after knocking back an offer from the federal government for help. 7 News Australia

In a compliance crackdown.. fines have been dramatically increased for not wearing a mask.. and there are even stricter rules for eight high-risk council areas.. including a 5KM travel limit. Across Sydney.. police also have new powers to shut down businesses, construction sites and public spaces.. where there’s a risk to public health.

There is a COVID crackdown in Sydney. In scenes the city hasn’t seen before, Defence Force troops will be sent into the suburbs, to curb the runaway virus. They’ll be checking on households. As residents wake up to harsh new rules on masks and travel.
