Woman in Shakopee, Minnesota found beheaded
Shakopee PD Press release: On July 28, 2021, at approximately 2:31 p.m., Shakopee Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing incident at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Spencer Street.
Shakopee officers found 55-year-old America Mafalda Thayer of Shakopee on the sidewalk with stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers quickly apprehended 42-year-old Alexis Saborit of Shakopee on suspicion of second-degree murder. He is being held in the Scott County Jail pending charges.
At this time, investigators believe the suspect knew the victim and this wasn’t a random act.
Investigators from the Shakopee Police Department are investigating the death. The Minnesota BCA processed the crime scene.
The Shakopee Police Department also wants to express its appreciation to the agencies who responded to assist on the incident. The department would also like to extend its condolences to the family of the victim.
42-year-old Alexis Saborit, with an alleged criminal record of abuse and violence and arson is believed to have known the victim, was arrested and is in the county jail. He allegedly took his victim’s head, drove around with the head hanging out of the car window…journalist Rebecca Bannon reported.
Shakopee PD has confirmed that Alexis Saborit is in custody related to yesterday’s homicide in which it appeared the victim was beheaded. Saborit was ordered to have a mental illness evaluation related to arson charges last fall. Despite the court’s observation & his defense’s claim that Saborit was mentally ill, he was released on bail. This spring, his conditional release was ordered revoked & a court doc claimed he was a danger to people & community. Judge Richard C. Perkins ordered him released, Crimewatch Minneapolis reported.
