Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to leave Tottenham this summer

Hojbjerg started his career at Bayern Munich, where he was handed his debut by Pep Guardiola but the Dane had to swap the Allianz Arena for Southampton in 2016 in search of regular game time.

The midfielder secured a move to Spurs four years later after impressing on the South Coast and while he had been an ever-present in Tottenham’s midfield in his first three seasons at the club, that was not the case last season.

It has been widely reported that the 28-year-old, who now has one year left on his contract, wants to leave the Lilywhites in search of game time.

The likes of  Fenerbahce (Turkiye Gazetesi), Atletico Madrid (Daily Mail) and Napoli (Gazzetta via Sport Witness) are credited with an interest in the player.

Hojbjerg likes the football culture in Germany

Hojbjerg, who is currently in Germany for the European championship, has now spoken about his love for German football.

Speaking to Danish publication Jyllands-Posten (as relayed by Sport Witness), he said: “I’m glad my career started in Germany. They’re relatively compact and that suited me really well. I needed structure and discipline.

“I took that with me. It was tough, of course. But it was good. The Germans have a special football fever that we have in Denmark. It’s really cool. For me, Germany is a fantastic football country.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The most likely destination for the midfielder this summer seems to be Spain or Italy, although one should not rule out some twists in this saga as more clubs are likely to enter the race for the Spurs star over the coming weeks.
