Spurs have been linked with Jonathan David

Over the last week or so, the speculation linking David with a move to the Premier League has intensified significantly, with Tottenham named as one of the contenders for the striker’s signature.

In fact, even the reliable Alasdair Gold revealed in his latest column in Football.London that Spurs hold a genuine interest in the Canadian international, who is expected to be available for around £25m since he has just a year left on his contract.

Tottenham are not thought to be alone in their admiration of the 24-year-old, with several outlets suggesting that the likes of Man Utd, West Ham and Chelsea are also after the player (BBC Sport).

David is almost certain to leave Lille this summer

Romano has now provided an update on David’s future, revealing that no club have made any significant progress in their efforts to land the striker.

However, the journalist asserted that the former Gent man is almost certain to find a new club before the start of the 2024-25 season.

When asked whether the Lille star is on the verge of a transfer, Romano told CaughtOffside: “It’s not something that at the moment I’m told is imminent or close. So I think they’re just speaking to many clubs and many agents to understand the situation of several strikers on the market.

“But at the moment, I’m not hearing anything imminent. I still expect Jonathan David to leave Lille in the summer transfer window. He has one year left on his contract and Lille want to make a profit.

“The player wants to try a different experience, so there is a good opportunity. I think to see Jonathan David leaving Lille. But at the moment, I’m not aware of anything advanced club-to-club between Chelsea and Lille.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be extremely surprised if Tottenham allowed David to go to Man Utd or Chelsea without a fight.

We have the means to outbid those clubs for the striker and Ange might be able to convince the 24-year-old that he would thrive in his system at N17.
