Spurs cult hero predicts the club will end trophy drought this season

Tottenham Hotspur have waited 16 years for a trophy now, but Ange Postecoglou appears to believe he can end that drought. So too, does former Spurs star Sandro, who insists the club is built for success this season.

Spurs have made a lot of progress

Since the League Cup win back in 2008, much has been made of Tottenham’s inability to get over the final hurdle and win more silverware.

Managers and players have come and gone and all have failed to deliver the success the fans crave so much. But, there is a brighter attitude around the club of late, and positive changes have been made behind the scenes to take Spurs to the next level.

Speaking to OnlineCassino, Sandro explained all the ways the club has improved and progressed since his time in North London, and insisted Ange Postecoglou is the man to lead the Lilywhites to glory.

He said: “Tottenham have come a long way since I left the club, in Brazil and other places around the world people now recognise Tottenham even more than they did before. They have all the facilities, they have the stadium and now I believe that they have the right manager, now they need to give it time.

“Last season started so well, this season has been up and down but the players understand how Ange Postecoglou wants to play and the fans and club have to stay behind him.”

Postecoglou’s second-season success can continue

Postecoglou has made no secret of his desire and indeed, his intention to make sure Tottenham win trophies again; it’s something he firmly believes he can and will do at the club.

Sandro believes in him, too, and suggested that even if Tottenham don’t finish in the top four this season, success is still on the horizon.

He added: “Tottenham are improving and although it’s not easy, I think this season they will end their trophy drought. Postecoglou says he always wins things in his second year and even if Tottenham don’t finish in the top four, I think fans just want to win a trophy now.

“They have plenty of chances this season which may impact Premier League performances, but it’s time now.”

Forget the Premier League, silverware is key this year

I honestly don’t really mind where we finish in the league this year, the absolute priority has to be on ensuring at least one of our cup runs ends in glory. If we win the Europa League we qualify for the Champions League anyway, so we don’t necessarily need top four.

Even if we win the FA Cup, that would secure us Europa League football again next season anyway, so the focus should be very much on those two competitions this season.
