Tottenham are still interested in Callum Hudson-Odoi as Nottingham Forest thrive
As Callum Hudson-Odoi enjoys a promising run of form at Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly reigniting their interest in the young winger, eager to boost their options out wide in pursuit of Champions League qualification.
Hudson-Odoi’s early impact at Forest
Callum Hudson-Odoi has seen a rejuvenation at Nottingham Forest since joining in 2023, becoming a mainstay under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Though not yet at a world-class level, Hudson-Odoi has shown flashes of brilliance that make him a reliable contributor to Forest’s early-season success, displaying creativity and versatility on the pitch. Since his arrival from Chelsea, the 23-year-old has managed to net ten goals and two assists across 45 appearances, illustrating his ability to make a difference, though he still has areas to refine.
Espirito Santo’s Forest side have been a surprise package this season, currently occupying third place in the Premier League. Their five wins, four draws, and only one loss have given fans reason for optimism, with Hudson-Odoi among the standout performers.
This promising start has undoubtedly placed Hudson-Odoi on the radar of numerous clubs, with Mick Brown, Tottenham’s former scout, confirming that Spurs have had an eye on him for some time.
Brown, known for his extensive network and experience in talent scouting, suggests Hudson-Odoi’s growth is being carefully monitored by several Premier League clubs eager to reinforce their attacking options.
Tottenham’s interest grows in Hudson-Odoi
With their sights set on Champions League qualification, Tottenham are reportedly keen to reinforce their squad, especially on the wings, and Callum Hudson-Odoi’s recent performances have clearly caught their attention.
Speaking to Football Insider, Mick Brown, who still maintains connections with Spurs and has years of experience in player evaluation, said: “His performances have caught the eye of a few clubs.
“Tottenham were interested in him during the summer and I’m told that interest hasn’t faded as they would still like to sign a new winger. Of course, when a side like Forest, with all due respect, are performing above their usual level, the high-flying players start to attract interest.
“I wouldn’t expect a deal to happen in January, he’ll need to show this type of form over the course of a season, but there’s definite interest.
“I’m told a number of clubs have been keeping an eye on him and tracking his development. “Tottenham feel they’re a couple of positions short of bridging the gap. Whether Hudson-Odoi is the right fit for them, that’s something they’ll be asking behind the scenes, but I know the initial interest is there.”
Balancing ambition with development
While Hudson-Odoi could offer Tottenham depth and creativity, particularly during a busy fixture schedule, Spurs may need to weigh his signing carefully. Hudson-Odoi has the potential to grow further, and his abilities would undoubtedly add a new dynamic to Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
However, for Tottenham to remain competitive in the top tier, they might ideally pursue a more experienced winger capable of eventually stepping into the role currently held by Son, who, as he approaches his thirties, will need a successor to maintain Tottenham’s threat on the flanks.
Additionally, the potential acquisition raises considerations about Spurs’ academy talents, especially Mikey Moore, a promising winger whose development would need to be supported and protected.
It’s crucial that Tottenham assess Hudson-Odoi’s progress over the season before making a move, ensuring that a balance is struck between bolstering the squad and nurturing emerging players.
