Crystal Palace open talks for Juventus midfielder linked with Tottenham

One of Tottenham’s London rivals have reportedly become the first club to open talks to sign a Serie A midfielder, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham.

Spurs eyeing move for Italy international

Nicolo Fagioli has been one of the mainstays of the Juventus midfield over the last few years, but the 23-year-old has now lost his prominence since Thiago Motta took over as the head coach in the summer.

He has made just five Serie A starts this season, having fallen behind the likes of Khephren Thuram, Manuel Locatelli and Teun Koopmeiners in the pecking order.

It has been widely reported over the last few weeks that Tottenham are eyeing a move for Nicolo Fagioli, who is alleged to be keen on a switch to the North London side.

However, Tuttosport have now revealed that it is Crystal Palace who have made the first move for the Juventus star, having now started talks over a January transfer.

It is suggested that the Bianconeri are ready to cash in on Fagioli if the Eagles put an offer of €20m (£16.6m) on the tale.

Additionally, West Ham and Fulham are also said to be circling over the Italy international, with both clubs wanting reinforcements in midfield.

The outlet adds that Fagioli is open to leaving Turin on loan with an option to buy, but that is not a formula that interests Juve, who want a permanent sale.

Tottenham have an excellent relationship with Juventus, having signed Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski, and Rodrigo Bentancur from the club in recent years.

The Lilywhites could use that relationship to their advantage to steal a march on others in the race for Fagioli.

Additionally, with Fabio Paratici still working as a consultant for Spurs, the club can get the Italian to pull the strings and hammer out an agreement with his former club.
