USC’s Caleb Williams Makes Decision on 2024 NFL Draft

USC quarterback and 2022 Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams announced his intent to enter the 2024 NFL draft on Monday.

“Since I was 10, all I ever wanted to do was to play football,” Williams wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “The journey would be empty without the people who have supported and loved me. I will Fight On forever and rep Hornsdown4Life. I’m ready to do whatever it takes. I am officially declaring for the NFL Draft.”

Williams is projected as a top pick in April’s draft after throwing for 3,633 yards and 30 touchdown passes to just five interceptions in 2023. While Williams has a strong chance to be the No. 1 pick, it’s unknown what team will hold the first selection come April.

The Chicago Bears currently own the No. 1 pick, thanks to a blockbuster trade last year with the Carolina Panthers. However, Chicago already has Justin Fields, a 2021 first-round pick, as its quarterback. But after yet another disappointing season from the team, there’s speculation that the franchise could trade Fields and draft Williams with the top pick.

It’s a long way from draft night, but Williams can expect to hear his name called in the first round on April 25.
