Five-Round Fantasy Football Mock Draft for the 2024 NFL Season

This is the first weekend since August that we don’t had an NFL games (no, the Pro Bowl Games don’t count), so what better time but now to look ahead to the 2024 fantasy season with a mock draft! Sure, a ton of things are going to change in the weeks and months to come, but this mock will give you an idea of how player values have changed, for better or worse, after a challenging 2023 campaign.

This one-man, five-round fantasy mock draft includes 12 teams and is based on a PPR scoring system. Each “team” used a different strategy with their first three picks so you can see how a roster is built at the top after the first five overall selections.

Teams 1: Running back, wide receiver, running back
Teams 2: Wide receiver, quarterback, wide receiver
Teams 3: Wide receiver, wide receiver, quarterback
Team 4: Wide receiver, running back, running back
Teams 5: Wide receiver, wide receiver, wide receiver
Teams 6: Wide receiver, running back, wide receiver
Team 7, 11: Running back, wide receiver, wide receiver
Team 8, 12: Running back, running back, wide receiver
Team 10: Running back, wide receiver, tight end

Round 1

Mark J. Rebilas/USA TODAY Sports

1.1. Christian McCaffrey, RB, San Francisco 49ers
1.2. Justin Jefferson, WR, Minnesota Vikings
1.3. CeeDee Lamb, WR, Dallas Cowboys
1.4. Tyreek Hill, WR, Miami Dolphins
1.5. Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR, Detroit Lions
1.6. Ja’Marr Chase, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
1.7. Breece Hall, RB, New York Jets
1.8. Bijan Robinson, RB, Atlanta Falcons
1.9. A.J. Brown, WR, Philadelphia Eagles
1.10. Travis Etienne, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
1.11. Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Detroit Lions
1.12. Jonathan Taylor, RB, Indianapolis Colts

Notes: No surprises here, as McCaffrey will be the consensus No. 1 overall pick in drafts. Let’s just hope he can avoid the bad luck top picks have had (including CMC) in the last four years. The next five picks are all wide receivers, including Jefferson, who will no doubt go first in some drafts if the Vikings retain Kirk Cousins. Lamb and St. Brown have moved ahead of Chase, but you can’t go wrong with any of them. I have Hall and Robinson as the second and third best runners, with Etienne a close fourth. I expect Robinson to be better as an NFL sophomore with Arthur Smith no longer calling the offensive shots. The round finishes with three backs, including Etienne, Gibbs and Taylor. In all, I have six backs and six wideouts in the round.

Round 2

2.13. Kyren Williams, RB, Los Angeles Rams
2.14. Michael Pittman Jr., WR, Indianapolis Colts*
2.15. Puka Nacua, WR, Los Angeles Rams
2.16. Keenan Allen, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
2.17. Saquon Barkley, RB, New York Giants*
2.18. DJ Moore, WR, Chicago Bears
2.19. Rachaad White, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
2.20. Nico Collins, WR, Houston Texans
2.21. Stefon Diggs, WR, Buffalo Bills
2.22. Davante Adams, WR, Las Vegas Raiders
2.23. Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills
2.24. Mike Evans, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers*

Notes: Williams, who some would argue belongs in the first round, gets the top spot in Round 2. He’s followed by three receivers, including the top fantasy rookie from a season ago, Nacua. Of course, Pittman Jr. and Allen could be on the move so stay tuned. Barkley, who finished ninth among backs in points per game average, is the second runner taken in the round. White had a breakout 2023 and has pushed into Round 2. Collins, who also put up a career year, is also a top-20 overall pick and is ahead of fantasy stars like Diggs, Adams and Evans. As for Diggs, I wouldn’t be shocked if he ends up on a different team next season. Time will tell. His teammate, Josh Allen, is the first quarterback off the board and the only one in the top 24.

Round 3

Brad Mills/USA TODAY Sports

3.25. De’Von Achane, RB, Miami Dolphins
3.26. Chris Olave, WR, New Orleans Saints
3.27. Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles
3.28. Isiah Pacheco, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
3.29. Garrett Wilson, WR, New York Jets
3.30. Brandon Aiyuk, WR, San Francisco 49ers
3.31. Rashee Rice, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
3.32. Jaylen Waddle, WR, Miami Dolphins
3.33. Sam LaPorta, TE, Detroit Lions
3.34. Travis Kelce, TE, Kansas City Chiefs
3.35. DeVonta Smith, WR, Philadelphia Eagles
3.36. Tank Dell, WR, Houston Texans

Notes: This round leads with Achane, who averaged the fifth-most points for backs who played in at least 11 games. He will likely continue to share the workload with Raheem Mostert, which hurts his upside. Hurts, who rushed for 15 touchdowns, is the second quarterback off the board. Pacheco moved way up compared to his ADP from last season, as does his teammate, Rice (unless the Chiefs add a big-name wide receiver in the offseason). LaPorta is my top-ranked tight end and goes one spot ahead of Taylor Swift’s boyfriend. Dell, who averaged 16.5 points per game as a rookie, has major upside and is ranked higher than some big names in Round 4.

Round 4

4.37. Cooper Kupp, WR, Los Angeles Rams
4.38. James Cook, RB, Buffalo Bills
4.39. Deebo Samuel, WR, San Francisco 49ers
4.40. Alvin Kamara, RB, New Orleans Saints
4.41. Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs
4.42. Joe Mixon, RB, Cincinnati Bengals
4.43. Amari Cooper, WR, Cleveland Browns
4.44. Zay Flowers, WR, Baltimore Ravens
4.45. Josh Jacobs, RB, Las Vegas Raiders*
4.46. Nick Chubb, RB, Cleveland Browns
4.47. DK Metcalf, WR, Seattle Seahawks
4.48. Tee Higgins, WR, Cincinnati Bengals*

Notes: How the mighty have fallen! Kupp, long a first-round pick, falls all the way down to Round 4 due to age, injuries and the emergence of Nacua. Mahomes is my third-ranked quarterback after a disappointing 2023 fantasy season. Several star runners from past seasons, Kamara, Mixon, Jacobs and Chubb, are also part of the round. Chubb, coming off a serious knee injury, will come with obvious risk. Higgins, coming off a terrible season in the stat sheets, should rebound next season whether he remains with the Bengals or signs with a new team in the offseason.

Round 5

5.49. Mark Andrews, TE, Baltimore Ravens
5.50. Kenneth Walker, RB, Seattle Seahawks
5.51. Derrick Henry, RB, Tennessee Titans*
5.52. Jayden Reed, WR, Green Bay Packers
5.53. Austin Ekeler, RB, Los Angeles Chargers*
5.54. Tony Pollard, RB, Dallas Cowboys*
5.55. Calvin Ridley, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars*
5.56. Christian Kirk, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
5.57. James Conner, RB, Arizona Cardinals
5.58. Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens
5.59. Rhamondre Stevenson, RB, New England Patriots
5.60. Raheem Mostert, RB, Miami Dolphins

Notes: The round begins with Andrews, who is my third-ranked tight end behind LaPorta and Kelce. With T.J. Hockenson’s status for the start of next season in question, Andrews will go ahead of him in most drafts. We also see a number of backs who failed to meet expectations last season, including Ekeler, Pollard and Stevenson. Mostert, who scored 21 touchdowns and finished fourth among backs on a points-per-game basis, is the last pick of the round. Going into his age-32 season, he'll likely be the most popular regression candidate at the position for 2024.
