National Radio Show Finds Out In Real Time They Booked the Wrong Randy Moss
1. Super Bowl week is a truly horrible week for sports talk radio because every show books a million guests who are there to plug products while saying absolutely nothing of interest.
However, the Boomer and Gio Show, which airs on CBS Sports Network and WFAN in New York, have given us what will likely be the best moment of the week when it comes to all those shows hunkered down in Las Vegas until Friday.

The show's producer, Al Dukes, booked Randy Moss for an interview this week. This was especially important to Gregg Giannotti because he's a big Vikings fan. He even talked about packing an item for Moss to autograph.
There was only one problem, though. Dukes booked the Randy Moss who is a horse racing announcer/analyst, not the Randy Moss who is an NFL Hall of Famer.
What made this great, though, was that Giannotti and Boomer Esiason found this out in real time when Giannotti casually asked Dukes what Moss was coming on the show to promote. That's when it all unraveled on the air, which led to a great radio segment.

Hopefully this entire saga ends with both Randy Mosses appearing on the Boomer & Gio Show.
2. Roger Goodell announced on Monday that the NFL will have a Friday night game, which will take place in Brazil, during Week 1 of the 2024 regular season.
Traina Thoughts reader Greg Feltes emailed me the following this morning:
"What network do you think will get the Friday night Eagles game in week 1? Seems like an insane turnaround for NBC with games on Thursday and Sunday and am sure they'd want a top crew on it. I also think that ESPN has the US Open semifinals that night and not sure they can even contractually move those to ESPN 2, so they are out although I guess it could be on ABC proper without a simulcast.
"So what's your guess? I guess anything is on the table if they'd put a playoff game on Peacock. Seems like Amazon or NFL Network though, right? My gut is probably NFL Network."
I emailed the NFL about this and I was told no decision has been made yet about which network will air the Friday night Brazil game. I can't give a prediction on who will get the game because anything is possible. NFL Network is a good guess. I think CBS and Fox would want the game and a streaming service is always in play, as well, these days.
3. I wrote about the WWE screwing over Cody Rhodes from his WrestleMania main event against Roman Reigns in Monday's Traina Thoughts.
Obviously, I'm far from the only WWE fan who is bummed out that the WrestleMania main event might be The Rock against Roman Reigns instead of Cody against Reigns.
However, nobody could've imagined the backlash would be this intense.
How intense, you ask? So intense that the fans have turned on The Rock, who is pretty much the most popular wrestler ever and beloved by everyone.
But on last night's Monday Night Raw, the St. Louis crowed busted out into a loud, "Rocky Sucks" chant during Rhodes's segment with Seth Rollins.
The scene inside the arena was so crazy that Rollins even commented, "I gotta be honest with you. I didn't think I was gonna hear that one."
The “Rocky Sucks” chants that took place last night on RAW totally threw certain people off.

Meanwhile, the Cody-Roman-Rock storyline is getting so big even George Kittle was asked about it at the Super Bowl media thing last night.

4. I wasn't trying to cause any beef between Chris "Mad Dog" Russo and Dan Orlovsky on Monday when Russo called Orlovsky "a scrub" on First Take, but clearly the line didn't land with the former NFL quarterback.
May be a HOFer but this is classless
— Dan Orlovsky (@danorlovsky7) February 5, 2024
Despite Orlovskly's response, all seems to be good between the two because Orlovsky is scheduled to appear on Russo's SiriusXM show Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. ET.
On a total side note, I thought this was an excellent breakdown of the Chiefs offense by Orlovsky, and it caused me to throw a few extra dollars on Kansas City.
The @Chiefs have run, and in the #SuperBowl are going to run “sail”/“3-level throws” a ton

6. The latest SI Media With Jimmy Traina features a conversation about all the latest sports media news with The Ringer editor in large Bryan Curtis.
Is the Tony Romo backlash from viewers warranted? How has Romo performed in the playoffs? How will viewers react to Romo calling this year’s Super Bowl between the Chiefs and Niners?
How will things play out at Fox with Tom Brady replacing Greg Olsen next season? What are Olsen’s options? What can we expect from Brady going into television?
Other topics discussed include the impact Taylor Swift could have on Super Bowl ratings; ESPN causing a mess for itself by firing Jeff Van Gundy and hiring Doc Rivers; the Netflix-WWE deal for Raw; Stephen A. Smith's gameplan for the future; this year’s Radio Row highlights and much more.

7. RANDOM VIDEO OF THE DAY: I have an unpopular take. The Tracy Chapman-Luke Combs duet of Fast Car from the Grammys (that I posted here on Monday) was good, but not nearly as good as any Chapman performance of the song solo.
