Kelvin Sampson Ejected in Houston Win Over Cowboys

Houston coach Kelvin Sampson was ejected early in the second half, but his 5th-ranked Cougars cruised to an easy 79-63 win over Oklahoma State on Tuesday night at the Fertitta Center in Houston, Texas.

With the Cougars up by 20 early in the 2nd half, the former OU coach stormed on to the court to argue a non-call when Brandon Garrison pushed off to receive a pass and scored on a layup.

Sampson got two quick technical fouls and was immediately ejected.

Houston shot 49 percent from the field, and held OSU to just 40 percent.

The Cowboys made just 5-for-21 from three-point range.

OSU shot 23 more free throws than Houston, but had 17 turnovers, which led to 24 U of H points.

Houston led 40-21 at halftime and built the lead to as many as 29 in the second half.

Javon Small led OSU with 18 points, while John-Michael Wright was the only other Cowboy in double figures with 13 points.

Jamal Shead led Houston with 23 points.

Sampson is now 15-15 all-time against Oklahoma State, going 3-1 at Houston, and 12-and-14 when he was at OU.

The Cowboys fell to 10-13 overall, 2-8 in Big 12 play.

OSU visits Oklahoma for the first round of Bedlam Saturday at 6:00 pm.
